WATER SOFTENING

Southern California, where we live, has a desert climate and lacks water resources.
Due to the local characteristics of calcareous grounds and long-distance transportation, the water quality is quite compared to other states.

About 80% of the hardness found in Southern California’s tap water is primarily inorganic minerals such as calcium and magnesium, and it also contains large amounts of suspended solids such as sand, mud, dust, and rust. More can be found where there are old and damaged pipes. Hardness is even more severe in Orange county area, because Orange County uses about 76 percent of its water resources from underground. In addition, organic chemicals such as chlorine and dioxin are included in the underground water contaminated with pesticides and factory wastewater.

Water Softener

What is the function of water softener

A water softener removes hardness components (calcium ion, magnesium ion, iron, manganese)
dissolved in tap water using ion-exchange resin to make soft water.

Water is also divided into soft water and hard water according to the amount of inorganic substances dissolved in it. Soft water is soft and light in minerals such as calcium and magnesium. The taste of water is not only bad, but it also adversely affects the boiler and plumbing in the house, which shortens the life of the house. We use a water softener that converts these hard waters of Southern California water into soft water using a chemical method.

A water softener is a system that removes the dissolved calcium and magnesium salts that cause hardness in water. It is achieved by ion exchange. The salt for the softener called Rock Salt is used to regenerate the ion exchange resin, and if the water regeneration cycle is set according to each home’s usage environment, it will be automatically regenerated.

It is very beneficial to install a water softener in the size of general single house, and it simply requires checking and replenishing salt consumption every 2 ~ 3 months. In addition, although the lifetime of the ion exchange resin is semi-permanent, it is recommended to replace the ion exchange resin for better water efficiency.

Water Softening Process

Why Do you need a Water Softener?

First, Cleaner hair and softer skin. Soft water can be extremely beneficial for your hair and skin while bathing or showering. The mineral ions in hard water prevent it from being completely soluble with soaps, forming a precipitate in the form of soap scum. Because soft water lacks these minerals, homes with a water softener enjoy a deeper lather. The benefits of a water softener on the skin go deeper than soap lather. It can also alleviate the effects hard water has on your body because of a loss of natural oils in your skin and hair.

Second, A water softener protects your home. Water softeners can help protect your plumbing system from the damaging effects of accumulated hard water scales which eventually reduce the chances of clogs and corrosion that could have caused health issues and blockages. Furthermore, the softened water helps in eliminating “soap scum” that remain after using hard water for cleaning. By using a water softener, you can also save money on plumbing, appliances, soap and detergents, and even energy bills

Third, Keeps your home clean. A water softener is designed to remove hardness-causing minerals from your water. As a result, you’ll probably notice little to no limescale buildup on fixtures and appliances in your home. You’ll also see your clothes appearing brighter and cleaner. Soft water fully dissolves and penetrates soap, and less insoluble soap scum or curd collects in your bathroom. This saves time you spend cleaning.

We strongly recommend the use of water softeners that extend the life of your home and provide many health benefits.
For your reference, water from the water softener should be used only for home usage such as shower or washing dishes or laundry. A separate water purifier should be used for drinking water.
